On March 11, 2011, Japan suffered a historic earthquake and tsunami that left extreme destruction in their wake. It was a tragedy with effects that will last for decades. Japanese people believe that handmade items are very valuable and special.
Yumiko Alexander has created this pattern as a way to connect with her homeland and to help the Japanese people in their time of trouble. With our knitting, we can build a bridge connecting people around the world.
