Noro Kureyon

Noro Kureyon is the original striping yarn. It is incredibly popular year after year and we can see why! Each skein of Noro Kureyon is a multitude of natural colors and no two projects will look exactly alike. This beautiful yarn is just waiting to be knit.  Made in Japan.

I used Noro Kureyon to make a throw for a birthday gift for my sister. The colors are vibrant and help create a patchwork effect. I love the way knitting with Noro surprises you...you can't really know what it will look like until it's finished and no two items will ever look the same.

    Comments about Noro Kureyon:

Am using this to make a top down weekend sweater. I love the uneven texture and feel of the fibre. Knits up beautifully and makes for a satisfying knit that I am enjoying picking up daily. I also love watching the self striping colours change!

      Comments about Noro Kureyon:

Love, love this yarn - beautiful colors. Fun to knit. The only reason that I can not give it a 5 star is because of the knots. Bought 18 skeins, unusual to NOT have a knot in each - often two completely different colors joined in the knot. This is a persistant problem with Noro products. Do not understand why they can remedy this.

          Comments about Noro Kureyon:

This is the first time I have knitted with Noro yarns and I will certainly knit with them again. Lovely colors in fascinating combinations. I am making the Noro bias striped afghan using the suggested color choice and it is extraordinary. My only concern is that the yarn is not very soft, but I am hoping it will soften when washed. Also, keep an eye out for knots in awkward places. I am normally not a fan of self-striping yarns, but Noro has changed my mind.

            Comments about Noro Kureyon:

I have used this yarn for many projects over the years from sweaters to homewares. This time I used 24 different colourways to make a rug. The result is stunning because Kureyon colours are vibrant and saturated. This yarn is not super-soft - I would not use it for items to be worn next to the skin. It does, however, soften with washing. It is a very easy yarn to splice which means that colours can be edited out. There are knots in approximately every 1 in 6 balls. Often this means a sudden change in colour instead of the graded transitions of the rest of the wool. I usually end up splicing these out. I am happy to do this because I have never found a yarn that produces such beautiful results.

              overall gorgeous but 2 complaints:
              1. some of the colorway is MUCH more drab than the vivid peacock-like colors that attracted me
              2. when the yarn is joined by manufacturer within the skein (knotted) there is no care re: maintaining the variegation, so can jump to a totally different color

I have used this yarn many times and never have been disappointed. It's great used for fingerless gloves, cowls, scarves and jackets. I love the weight and consistency in the product. This is a yarn I can always depend on. Unfortunately, yarn shops in my area have discontinued carrying it.

                  Comments about Noro Kureyon:

Kureyon has been one of the few favorites I have knitted with for decades. The finished items are beautiful and (if well cared for) last for a very long time making this yarn perfect for "classic" designs. One of the secrets of Kureyon is that it is easy to break the yarn and remove any of the well-edited colors that just don't work for you. Knitting with more than one colorway or skewing different colors from the same colorway is great fun and can result in gorgeous fabrics and designs. If you are new to Kureyon, try 1 - 2 balls for a cap, beret or small neck scarf to see how lovely and soft the wool is and how beautiful the colors are. The only thing "wrong" with Noro's Kureyon is that sometimes a favorite color is discontinued.

Webs service has been excellent since I first started ordering from them - before online shopping. Customer service is great.
