Rowan Cocoon

A subtle light twist lends uniqueness to Rowan Cocoon, a bulky blend of ultra-soft merino and the slight fuzz of kid mohair. The lighter shade doesn’t actually show, but lends a delicious contrast and silvery sheen to the rich colors of Cocoon’s hues. Count on Rowan’s patterns to give knitters lots of great ideas for this multi-faceted yarn.  Made in U.K.

      Comments about Rowan Cocoon:

I bought one skein of Misty Blue to ck it out for a throw. This color is lighter than I expected- my monitor shows it to be close to a navy but it's actually a medium blue. For me, this is too fuzzy for a throw/afghan so I'll use it for a hat or mittens. It is a soft, fuzzy, quality yarn though.. .

Made a sweater from this yarn. Knit up quickly, did not split but shed on my clothing so I had to use a protector. I would not use this product for any garment that is close to the face.

      Comments about Rowan Cocoon:

I knit Kirsten Hipsky's Eva Vest in the largest size in less than a month with this yarn during July on Dreamz wooden needles. It went well except on very humid days when the yarn tugged on the needles. Yes, it snagged (or split) but when I just dropped the marginal strand, it just worked into the fabric. Correcting errors in cables was a problem because of the splitting, but again, I just got the main part of the strand and it looked fine. (Fyi, I am picky about my knitting--usually working on size 3-6, so I do mean just moving along looked fine),

Hopefully, the wearer will think the garment as soft as I found the yarn.

      Comments about Rowan Cocoon:

I've used this yarn for a Bandana Cowl, which is still lovely, soft, and warm after a few winters of use, and am currently making a Rowan sweater pattern with it. This yarn has such nice drape, and is very soft and warm. This is by far my favorite bulky wool/mohair blend yarn.

Bought to make a complicated pattern and find it wonderfully forgiving when I must unravel and start the row again. Love the way it looks in the cable pattern and look forward to wearing the sweater.

Used a pattern for "Ruched Scarf." Upon completion the scarf measured 75" after a 10 minute soak in tepid water and wool wash, towel roll to remove excess water and loosely laying flat to dry it grew to 92"-(bonus for recipient!) but is this normal for this fiber?
