A Quartet of Techniques: The Impari Shawlette

The Impari Shawlette from Nina Machlin Dayton is an asymmetrically shaped triangular shawlette worked from the top down. Cozy and warm it uses garter stitch to break up pooling in variegated yarns, but looks great in solid colors too. The pattern contains a chart to follow the asymmetrical row counts and includes instructions for 2 different types of ties. Students will learn a garter stitch tab start, a picot bind-off, twisted cord with tassels, and understand asymmetrical design.
