Advanced Beginner Weaving on a Four Harness Loom
This 4-session advanced beginner workshop will study three structures: Twills, Summer and Winter, and the fundamentals of Double Weave. We will weave sample variations of each of the structures, which will be useful as reference pieces for future projects. The final class will be devoted to designing a project, choosing one of the three structures as a starting point. Students must provide their own looms and bring them to each class. This class is intended for weavers who have completed a beginning weaving class and have weaving experience beyond class time. Students must be comfortable winding a warp, dressing a loom, reading a draft, as well as be familiar with the mechanics of their loom. There is a significant amount of homework for each class which must be completed before moving on to the next weave structure.
Prerequisite: Students must have completed a beginner weaving class
and have weaving experience beyond class time. They should be comfortable
winding a warp, dressing a loom, reading a draft, and be familiar with the
mechanics of their loom.
