Black alpaca fibers combine with lustrous undyed silk to offer a fiber blend that enhances drape in the finished yarn, and balances the warmth and softness of the alpaca fiber with the strength, luster and temperature regulation properties of silk. Ideal for spinning inelastic yarns with high drape, shine and softness.

Note: Fiber ordered by the ounce may have its quantity adjusted before shipping to reflect its actual net weight.

Comments about false Black Alpaca Silk:

Just started spinning with a top whorl spindle. I have been able to get an even consistency of a lace weight yarn with this fiber. It spins beautifully and cannot wait to knit this into a soft shimmering shawl.

Comments about false Black Alpaca Silk:

I am brand new at spinning so I puchased a variety of fibers to try out. Spinning the silkly alpaca took some extra work. After researching the best ways to hold and draft the fibers, I found it lovely to spin. I made some darling yard. I've no idea what I'll knit with since I only had two ounces, but I am very pleased with the results.

Comments about false Black Alpaca Silk:

In my previous use, the black alpaca and white silk were very obviously different fibres carded together, giving a wonderful effect. This time they are blended together giving an overall grey, very disappointing and impossible to use in same project with my first spinning skein.

Comments about false Black Alpaca Silk:

This stuff is some of the nicest fiber I have ever spun with. Its glorious. The picture they have up right now isnt doing the fiber justice at all, altho since this is the first week of the new site I assume theyre still settling in. This is the kind of stuff I keep on the top of my spinning basket, just to inspire me. And I know this sounds really weird and borderline creepy, but it reminds me of my favorite aunts hair, that steel grey with shots of white. The silk and alpaca content are in what feels to me to be the right proportions and the silk is blended in such a way that the little silk fibers catch the light in the prettiest way. I bought an entire paychecks worth of this stuff last time I was at Webs and I dont regret it at all.
