I was pleasantly surprised at the softness. Softer than I was expecting. And for a bulky yarn I found the yardage to be decent. I used five skeins to make a small woman's poncho and had about a skein and half leftover.

It's also extremely warm. Within seconds of placing it over my shoulders to check I was heated through. Would make a great blanket, scarf, cowl, or sweater yarn.

I was disappointed that each skein of this yarn that I purchased had a knot in it to tie pieces together to complete the skein. Also, it's mostly even thickness to the yarn, but occasionally there's a really really thin part or a really really thick part, making lumps and bumps in the finished fabric.

I only wish I'd bought more of it! It's like a fluffy cloud in my hands. I'm near the end of a complicated sweater, but just had to CO for a lacy scarf (using US13s) with the Kodiak. I just love it. It's so soft and knits up quickly.

I am a knitter and weaver of prayer shawls. I love this yarn. It is soft and beautiful, and knits very fast into a prayer shawl. I can wash it using Eucalen, and that nourishes the finished yarn project.

            Fabulous wool!

            Comments about false Kodiak:

I adore this wool. One of the few heavier wools I like to work with, as I generally prefer sock, fingering and lace. I made the recommended Aude pattern from Berrocco, and it turned out great. The colors are highly saturated, and the softness is out of this world - and it's super fluffy and weightless. It knits up fast, and is a delight on the hand. I just bought up every color they have! Definitely recommend.

                    Comments about false Kodiak:

This is a great yarn. I bought it along with a very similar but less expensive yarn (Grignasco Tikal) to make a cardigan featured in Vogue Knitting (Fall 2012, Pattern #13) and it knits up well, is super soft, and comes in beautiful colors. Compared to the other yarn, it sheds much, much less, and if I were to repeat the experience, I would do the whole project in Kodiak, despite the increased price.
Note: one or two of the skeins were pretty irregular in thickness.
