Blackthorn Double Pointed Needles have the feel of wood and the strength of steel. The pointed tips make fine work easier, and Blackthorns have enough grab to keep yarn on the needle but are slick enough to work fast. Virtually indestructible! Set of 5 needles included, each 6" long. Available in sizes US 0000–US 4. Crafted in the USA.

Note: These needles may have a slight residue that could mar white or light-colored yarns. The manufacturer suggests thoroughly wiping down each needle before initial use.

These no-slide sock needles are magnificent. They grab the wool and hold it in place; their points make it easy to do even tricky twists and cables. They look and act like ebony, only better..since they are virtually unbreakable. Easily worth the price since unless you lose them, they will never need replacng.

From the description, I was expecting something quite different from what I received. These are the grippiest needles I've ever worked with, to the point that it was uncomfortably difficult to slide my stitches along them. I expected them to have nice sharp points because they're described as pointy, but I actually found them rather dull. When they rub against each other, they make an awful sound that's reminiscent of fingernails on a chalkboard mixed with a metal fork scraping against a plate, which makes me cringe every time I hear it. I wish I hadn't bought three pairs of these, because I won't be using them.

With some sanding, polishing, and sharpening, they might become usable, but it really shouldn't be necessary.

On the plus side, they have a pleasant sheen...

      Comments about true Double Points:

Received a set of these a few years ago as a gift. Was so impressed I've been searching for additional sizes in our local yarn store ever since. My lack of shopping success drove me to the internet and WEBS had exactly what I was looking for. These DPNs are comfortable to hold and the yarn slides between the needles smoothly, without catching or fraying.

        Comments about true Double Points:

Used to knit a pair of socks, yarn really did not slide well on these needles. The point is very blunt, which is not good on sock yarn.

These needles came full of splinters. I was able to smooth them with an old nail buffer, but they are not usable out of the box

I never worry about bending or breaking the finer size needles! No problems with snagging yarn or dragging over tips. plus they were on sale.

These needles are my go-to's for socks. I have never had one break. Unlike metal needles they are warm to the touch. The stitches move smoothly on the matte material without slipping off.

                Comments about true Double Points:

I wanted strong skinny needles, no joins. These meet both requirements, I did polish them with a wool hexpuff and fingers , the oil from hands after a couple of rows reduces the noise somewhat but its still there, I'll update review after a longer trial .

                Comments about true Double Points:

These are needles that grip your stitches hard. The odd texture is the best feature for me. I knit very fast, and need this grabbing action to keep my stitches from jumping off the needles. If you need slippery DP's - don't get them. If slippery needles make you all thumbs (e.g age, arthritis, etc.) They are a great boon to give you back control over how fast the fabric advances. The tips are great at isolating and retrieving a dropped stitch. (The slippery points added to Karbonz defeat that advantage. )Oh yeah -- They are unbreakable and they feel good (warm) in your hands).
P.S. I own all types of needles and use most of them - socks are always Blackthorns

I like them. Good grip with the 000. It does have an odd sound, a combination of squeak and grind. I'm ok with it. I plan to buy other sizes.

These needles allow for control over small stitches as the needles are smooth without being slick. The length insures that the stitches are secure.

Take getting used to. Yarn does not slip. Creates very even tension once you get used to them and you can knit very quickly with them. Yes they can make a scratchy noise but I didn't mind it.
