Classic Elite's Blackthorn is 100g of soft, bulky weight alpaca and wool. This squishy three-ply yarn is the chunky big sib of Classic Elite Vista, and comes in the same naturally gorgeous undyed, softly heathered shades. Blackthorn works up into a substantial fabric with a little fuzz and a lot of warmth. Made in Peru.

This yarn is available online only. Local customers can choose the In-Store Pickup option when placing their order online.

    Comments about true Blackthorn:

Can't block without stretching. I made a very soft and warm cowl as a gift. Alpaca is one of my favorite yarns because of its softness. All in all, I am very pleased with the outcome of my project.

    Comments about true Blackthorn:

I'm making the CEY Addison pattern throw which calls for this yarn. I debated whether to substitute a Superwash yarn b/c not crazy about having to hand wash a throw. But I'm glad I got Blackthorn in ash colorway. It's soft but not too soft- feels "meaty" and natural.

My gauge swatch blocked out to 15 st per 4" on 10's. I think this will make a great throw, will worry about washing it later. : )

    Comments about true Blackthorn:

My husband and I are both fiber artists. We LOVE this yarn for weaving on a triangle loom. It is sturdy, doesn't break and it "fulls" very nicely. I will be purchasing more of this product to make some crocheted items, as well. The natural colors are beautiful!

    Comments about true Blackthorn:

I really like this yarn. It has very good stitch definition, the color is wonderful and as shown on-line. It wasn't as soft as I had imagined but was soft for me to use as a shawl neck-warmer. I would buy this again.

    CEY Blackthorn

    Comments about true Blackthorn:

Used this for a color-block pullover (peat & ash). So easy to knit with and beautiful natural colors. Blocked before assembly simply by pinning to blocking board and misting heavily with water. After drying it was a beautiful fabric and after assembly hardly needed to be reblocked. I did wash in Eucalan and reblocked. It grew a little when very wet but as it dried a little the natural memory of the wool took over and went back to shape beautifully with just a few pins in strategic places. Makes a very warm sweater. I will definitely use this again.
