This time it was for Cathy Carron's "School Ties" pattern from her Cowlgirls book (which I also bought at WEBS). I already had a skein of the Sunflower and Deep Blue Sea from a previous purchase of Colors by Kristin. I decided it was about time to make my daughter that Ravenclaw scarf I promised her years ago. I worked in magic loop and this pattern was so much fun. This yarn was part of the fun as it slides nicely on the needles, is soft to the touch, doesn't split easily and has just the right amount of stretch. I have paid betwenn $4.79 and $5.49 a skein and for 95 yards it's a good price. This purchase was two more skeins of the blue to finish the project. I ended up with about 4 yards left when I was done.

Classic Elite Yarn

With alpaca & mohair in it, I expected it to be softer yarn.

Comments about 4.59 Color by Kristin:

I love this yarn. It is soft and warm. Easy to knit and beautiful stitch definition. If you drop a stitch, its just stay there waiting for you to pick it up. I made a cowl for my daughter with knit and purl and cable. When doing the C4B, the stitches in the back were easy to stretch to make it easier to knit. A perfect yarn.
Now the cons: this yarn is discontinued, a real shame.

Comments about 4.59 Color by Kristin:

I plan on making myself a cabled sweater with this yarn. It feels so soft and squishy. Is worsted wt yarn so it should provide good stitch definition. But the sky is the limit on what could be made from this yarn. If I had had more money to spend, and had I known how wonderfully soft this yarn was, I would have bought more skeins. Will be buying more of this yarn in the future.

I bought some Colors by Kristin worsted wool/alpaca/mohair blend yarn in the color Anemone. I am very pleased with the bright color and the quality of the yarn. It will make a very warm hat and mittens.

Comments about 4.59 Color by Kristin:

I used this yarn along with other yarns in a afghan called "Wee Ones" by Churchmouse. It changes color every row. I was basically using Royal Alpaca, and need other colors to fill in for more of variety. I found this yarn very nice, a little heavier than the alpaca but loved the little halo around it.A perfect yarn for the need I had.

Comments about 4.59 Color by Kristin:

I crocheted a cloche hat and used leftover yarn to crochet flowers for trim. This yarn survived ripping out rows more than once; it never pilled/snarled/stretched or otherwise betrayed my less-than-perfect stitching.

Comments about 4.59 Color by Kristin:

This yarn slides along on my metal needles, making for a pleasant knitting experience. The color is bright. I was gifted a 10 skein bag, and I ordered another bag in order to knit myself a sweater. WEBS was able to send the same dye lot, which is MUCH appreciated! I have a sensitive neck, so no scarves or cowls with any bit of wool or alpaca for me, but sweaters, hats and mitts made with this yarn are warm and comfortable.
