Balls are small so lots of ends to weave in, but the yarn isn't slippery so it weaves in well. Quite a thick yarn for a cotton, but it's so soft and is dyed beautifully so makes a lovely lace pattern and is soft and pretty in stocking stitch. It would be good for a non wool sweater - I'm making the Hooded Eyelet Vest by Fiona Ellis and it's just perfect so far. I'm thinking of buying more, to make a lace skirt as it seems to be a substantial yarn.

I bought this online in hopes that it would show off the stitch work in a scarf pattern. I used the gauge guide and the finished result didn't live up to the promise. Also, the yarn was more rigid than it looked.

Comments about Classic Elite Yarns Mesa:

I would use this for summer sweaters and tops. It is a heavier yarn and would not work well for lace. I am making an afghan and mixing with another cotton yarn. Very soft and supple feel.

I've ordered this cotton several times to knit baby bibs for gifts. One recipient asked if she could have more. She said they wash up beautifully and are the bibs she always reaches for.

I'm crocheting a Summer Snood and wanted 100% cotton. The yarn is PERFECT. I love the amazing green color. I love the texture. It's pure joy to work with. Not one drawback. I couldn't be more pleased.

I AM MAKING MY GRANDDAUGHTER A SUMMER TOP.

THE COLOR IS SUBTLE YELLOW. ALAS, WHEN I NEED TO FROG IT,
IT RESPONDS KINDLY, WITHOUT SHOWING IT HAS ALREADY BEEN THERE.

MY FIRST COTTON PROJECT, I WAS SURPRISED HOW FIRM IT IS,
NOT SOFT AND YIELDING. SO, NOW I KNOW COTTON.

    Love this yarn

    By Chaya

    from La Jolla CA

    Pros

    • Great subtle colors
    • No Need To Make Balls
    • Very soft

    Cons

    • A Few Knots
    • Not enough choices

    Best Uses

Comments about Classic Elite Yarns Mesa:

I'm crocheting a summer-weight afghan with this yarn. Due to fabric sensitivities, I only work with cotton yarn. This is the softest and easiest to work with cotton yarn I've used. Many cotton yarns have colors that look flat - the gentle heathering of these colors adds just enough shading to the piece. I'm working in four colors, and they combine beautifully. My only complaint is that I wish there were a few more colors to choose from.
