These are beautiful needles at a great price! These premium bamboo needles are great to knit with for all levels of knitters. They're smooth and ultra lightweight, but have enough "grip" so that your project will not slide off the needles. The tips come to a nice point and will not snag the yarn. Set of 5 needles.

If they had my size, 2.50 or 2.75 I would buy again

Comments about COLONIAL NEEDLE COMPANY Bamboo 5.5" Double Points:

I prefer the rosewood DP needles that Colonial Needle use to sell. Unfortunately, they are not available any more and the only thing available in the 5.5" length were the bamboo.
It will have to do.
I just recently bought a 5" length needle, nice wood and do love them.
If you are a new knitter of socks or mittens, you could find the shorter needles frustrating,

Almost Perfect For Stranded Colorwork

Comments about COLONIAL NEEDLE COMPANY Bamboo 5.5" Double Points:

I bought these on a whim because I'm always looking for options for the perfect wooden or bamboo sock DPNs.

These are not everyday needles for me, but I really liked using them for stranded colorwork knitting. That is because they have a lot of grip to them. They are perfect for stranded knitting (to keep stitches spread for making good floats), and/or people who are concerned about their DPNs falling out of their knitting.

These are not needles I would reach for for plain sock knitting, because I prefer slicker needles for that. But I will likely order extras to have on hand for stranded knitting.

The tips are dull, and I wish they were pointier. But they are usable and *consistent*, which is a problem I have had with some other brands. I would give these a 5 for stranded colorwork socks and mittens if the tips were just a little pointier, but that is a matter of preference and not quality.

The needle points are very sharp, so sharp and also so rough that they hurt my fingers as I knit.

Comments about COLONIAL NEEDLE COMPANY Bamboo 5.5" Double Points:

I had only ever used steel dpn's before. The bamboo is a lovely feel and the stitches don't slip off so easily. I am a bamboo don convert. The 5.5" is perfect for sock knitting, not long and unwieldy like longer needles

Comments about COLONIAL NEEDLE COMPANY Bamboo 5.5" Double Points:

I prefer using the smaller DPNs for my socks. Depending on the size of your project, the sts can fall off the smaller DPNs, so I have DPNs of different lengths in the same size. I love the fact that these DPNs I have ordered from WEBS have the sizes stamped on the sizes. I am constantly measuring the sizes of my other DPNs. I will order from WEBS from now on!

Comments about COLONIAL NEEDLE COMPANY Bamboo 5.5" Double Points:

These needles are not worth it. There is no finish on the wood so it is very rough, making it very hard for stitches to slide back and forth. The bamboo easily splinters. I have had 3 splinters so far trying to finish a pair of socks! Overall it's not worth it, you're better off spending a little bit extra on another pair of DPNs and saving your hands in the process.
