I must begin by saying that I usually dislike wooden needles. However, these were the only double pointed needles available in the size I needed so I took a chance. I am quite glad I did! I found them extremely easy to work with, very well-made, and with a beautiful finish. I haven't had any problems with splintering, color-leeching, or catching on the yarn as I have with other wood/bamboo needles. They have definitely made me rethink my dislike of wood. I would most certainly buy more in the future, and I am considering trying out more of the Colonial Needle Company's line.

Disappointing

These needles dragged. I expected a slick, hard finish and was disappointed. I'll only use these if nothing else is available.

Comments about COLONIAL NEEDLE COMPANY Rosewood 8" Double Points:

I have this product in several different gauges. Lovely smooth finish and ideal for those projects where you don't want the needles to slip out of the stitches too easily but still want a smooth "non-grabbing" action. The only complaint I have is that the 2mm needles are so fine they are very bendable and one of them broke on first use. Luckily there are five needles to a set, so losing/breaking one is not really a problem.

These have just the right balance between "grip" and "slip." Perfect for fine yarns. They've quickly become my favorite double points.

Comments about COLONIAL NEEDLE COMPANY Rosewood 8" Double Points:

These double pointed needles are smooth and the dark wood makes it easy to use with light colored yarns. The wool glides easily but grip is maintained to prevent dropped stitches, and loss at the ends.

Light weight beautiful DPNs. I love these needles because the uarn glides off the needles. It doesn't stick but it's not fast that the yarn falls off easily. Perfect.

Extremly fragile. Small sizes break with minimal use.

I took a set of size 2 needles out of the package and started a top down hat. Before i had finished the crown one of the needles snapped. These are expensive, and not worth the cost. Packaging has no information on how to contact the supplier to obtain a replacement.

I used to be able to find eight-inch bamboo double points (by clover, maybe?) but for the past 10 years or so, six inches was the longest I could find. The needles are fantastic; the wood is smooth and lovely to touch. Eight-inch DPs are the best because you never have to worry about stitches falling off the ends.

Comments about COLONIAL NEEDLE COMPANY Rosewood 8" Double Points:

I'm using these (Size 10 US) for dog sweaters with bulky (but not overly so) yarn. They're lightweight but have heft. They're also comfortable and for some reason, their length is easier to manage than other 8 inch DPNs. They're not slick but they are smooth (nothing rough about them). As a middling/muddling knitter, I find the stitches move but don't shoot off of the DPNs (as with my metal ones).

I really like them a little lighter than bamboo.

I really liked them better than bamboo, they seemed to be lighter. The only bad thing about them was no size marked on needles so unless kept in the plastic they came in, very easy to know know the size
