I must begin by saying that I usually dislike wooden needles. However, these were the only double pointed needles available in the size I needed so I took a chance. I am quite glad I did! I found them extremely easy to work with, very well-made, and with a beautiful finish. I haven't had any problems with splintering, color-leeching, or catching on the yarn as I have with other wood/bamboo needles. They have definitely made me rethink my dislike of wood. I would most certainly buy more in the future, and I am considering trying out more of the Colonial Needle Company's line.

Disappointing

These needles dragged. I expected a slick, hard finish and was disappointed. I'll only use these if nothing else is available.

Comments about 8.99 Rosewood 8"" Double Points:

I used to be able to find eight-inch bamboo double points (by clover, maybe?) but for the past 10 years or so, six inches was the longest I could find. The needles are fantastic; the wood is smooth and lovely to touch. Eight-inch DPs are the best because you never have to worry about stitches falling off the ends.

Comments about 8.99 Rosewood 8"" Double Points:

I'm using these (Size 10 US) for dog sweaters with bulky (but not overly so) yarn. They're lightweight but have heft. They're also comfortable and for some reason, their length is easier to manage than other 8 inch DPNs. They're not slick but they are smooth (nothing rough about them). As a middling/muddling knitter, I find the stitches move but don't shoot off of the DPNs (as with my metal ones).

I really liked them better than bamboo, they seemed to be lighter. The only bad thing about them was no size marked on needles so unless kept in the plastic they came in, very easy to know know the size

After a while of use, the tips got coarse and yarn got caught. The dark color is suitable for light colored yarns.

I opened these needles - size 0 - and began making a pair of socks with fingering weight yarn. This was the first time I used them. By the third row, one needle tip broke off. By the fourth row, an entire third of yet another needle broke off. I'm a little upset for having paid almost $9.00 for nothing more than glorified toothpicks.

Received a gift of a set from a friend, they were great. Using that size to make my socks. I needed a different size for a project I will be working on for Christmas so ordered another set. They're pretty too. So easy to work with I really like them.
