Product Details

Comprised of hemp blended with cotton and modal, Elsebeth Lavold Hempathy is a slightly textured yarn that is a WEBS favorite. Hemp is an incredible plant fiber that is valued for its strength and durability. It won’t wear out—instead, it will wear in—getting better with age. It will retain color better than any other fiber, including cotton, due to its porous nature which also allows the fiber to breathe.

Perfect yarn for small “straw” hats.

Perfect for “straw” hats on my knitted animals.

Great color. Lighter then the picture, but I liked it better that way.

I am using it in a shawl.

This is exactly what I needed to make a poncho like garment to ward of the chill of air-conditioning. On large needles with a lace pattern and stockinet the drape is perfect and luster in appealing.

Using to knit ""Branchport Cottage Top"" from Summer 2023 issue of Interweave Knits. I find this yarn a bit difficult to work with as it splits easily and is somewhat stiff. As a result, I find that it is a ""slower"" knit for me than other fibers. I know that it will get softer with each washing as it contains hemp.

Haven't had a chance to use this yarn yet so I can't comment on knitting with it but it looks and feels really nice and the turquoise color is lovely. I'm always pleased with the yarn I purchase from Webs.

A little ruff but the finished project turned out great!

This has become my new 'summer knitting' yarn. It's substantial in weight and yet not too heavy for summer. Love it!

Branchport Cottage Top by Laura Barker caught my eye on front page of summer 2023 of Interweave Knits. The suggested yarn was the Elizabeth Lavold Hempathy and I chose the Jamaica Sun colour. I knew that this pattern would challenge me and I didn't want to take a chance on any substitutions. This cotton/ hemp blend is slightly rough to work with but my washed, gage sample bloomed nicely. I am using sharp Chiagoo needles and this yarn does not seem to split. Nice choice for summer knits
