I have the rose color. It is quite soft and even, with no knots. I am knitting a tunic type sweater with it. It does have a bit of a halo effect.

It knits up with a kind of pebbly surface on stockinette. One knitting friend I showed this to said it would probably go smooth in blocking. All the same, there may be better choices out there if you want sharp cable definition. The yarn seems quite strong and springy.

If you want a really cozy, cuddly, sweater, scarf, hat, and your pattern takes sport weight yarn, this is a good choice.

I raised alpacas for 12 years and am accustomed to the soft, luxurious feel of GOOD alpaca yarn. This was a huge disappointment. I bought a kit of the yarn with a pattern. When I received and felt the yarn I did not like it. I proceeded to weave the scarf. The finished scarf was also not soft or comfortable. I would never sell this or give it as a gift, and I won't even wear it because it is itchy.

Comments about "" Alpaca Sport Melange:

I have been searching for this color with a slight golden halo for a vest project. I am combining the red with the peach with a bit of fair isle. It looks great so far and is a pleasure to knit with and a Great Value. I am more than satisfied with purchases I've made from Webs.

Lovely colors. I purchased the Peach which is beautiful. Using this yarn to make a cabled vest. It is sufficiently elastic for a pullover, and a great value. I have plans to knit hats and scarves.

I am, by all means, a novice. With that in mind, it was difficult to dicern the size of the yarn from the provided photo. I have been dying to make an alpaca blanket, so I was a little disappointed when I received the yarn and found how small the strand is, but that is on me. I love the color and how easy it is to knit, but this yarn is not good for loom knitting. The price was good and the delivery was quick. I look forward to my next purchase.
