*This class fulfills the  Requirement for WEKP.

The phrase “Aran Knitting,” conjures images of richly cabled sweaters woven with deep Irish history. While the iconic Aran sweater, named for islands off the coast of Ireland’s Galway Bay, dates only to the 1930s, Aran designs are timeless. Gorgeously textured Aran sweaters are a joy to create and even more satisfying to design. This course will go deeply into this traditional art, focusing on cable selection and layout and the myth and history of Aran knitting. If you have been dreaming about designing your own Aran sweater, this class is for you! You will create your own custom, entirely original Aran sweater. Since this class is available only to WEKP graduates, it assumes full mastery of all program techniques and skills.

For the comfort and safety of our students and teachers, students may be asked to wear a mask during in person classes and workshops, and masks are available upon request.

Prerequisite: Must have graduated the WEKP Program
