This is one of the most wonderful yarns I have used. It is soft, knits up very evenly and is sooooo soft. Kids especially love it. Perfect for babies and little ones as it is machine washable. My only criticism is the limited range of colors. While the shades it comes in are lovely, bright clear colors; they are mostly 'kid colors' (if you kniow what I mean. Would love to see it in some darker, more soophisticated colors soon !!Great Yarn though and good yardage

I loved the soft texture of this yarn. The colors were very bright which happened to be just what I was looking for. I made Jil Eaton's Hankie Pankie Blankie for my new baby and after pulling it out of the wash, all of the tassels and pompoms had shredded into long fibers. I tied them as tightly as possible but pulling too hard on this singles yarn will break it like roving. So sad about the state of the blanket. I will be redoing the little decorative bits around the blanket with Cascade 220 superwash. I think this yarn would probably be okay for anything knit rather tightly but I don't want to try it for myself as it is not a lot of yardage for the money.

So soft!

Pros

  • Dyed Evenly
  • Good Weight
  • Knits Quickly
  • Nice Texture
  • Soft

Cons

  • Loosely Spun
  • Splits Easily

Best Uses

    Comments about Jil Eaton MinnowMerino:

I loved working with this yarn but it does demand attention to every stitch if you don't want splitting. Because it is so loosely spun, I sometimes twisted the working strand as I was knitting. Use another yarn to seam.

        Comments about Jil Eaton MinnowMerino:

I'm using 11 different colors to knit a Wonky Log Cabin baby blanket. I love the contrasts between all the different hues! The yarn is soft and fun to work with, though if, like me, you occasionally have to pick out and reknit a row, you'll find that the yarn splits and gets more difficult to work with.

So soft and strong. Lays nicely. If you undo your work and re-knit it can get fuzzy and you might not get through all the strands. It is beautiful! And not itchy!

I have made several hats and two blankets from this yarn. The colors are pretty and also perfect for children's items. Very soft. I find it twists easily but maybe that is just because of the way I crochet. It washes nicely. I haven't ever machine dried it so I cannot speak to that. I recommend it.

                Comments about Jil Eaton MinnowMerino:

I used this for a baby hat for someone else to give. The gifter requested the softest yarn I could find that would still be washable and this fit the bill. It is lovely and soft to work with, the colors are amazing (and consistent), and it works up beautifully with nice stitch definition. I love singles but they shed terribly; this has almost no shed and I love it for that. My only qualm is the price point for the yardage. It is definitely a splurge and for my part will only be purchased for someone who I know will use and cherish the end product.

                Service and delivery comments:

I couldn't be happier. Everything arrived quickly and in good condition. The one question I had was answered quickly and accurately.

I started to make baby blankets for all my friends. I was first given this Jil Eaton yarn by my mother in law and fell in love with it. Its easy to work with as a novice knitter. I like the feel of the yarn and the ease of moving it around on my needles. I'm on my third blanket with this exact yarn.
