Comments about "" Ty-Dy Socks Dots:

I threw in a couple of skeins of this yearn with my order because the price was right. I like it much better in person. The photos do not do it justice. It's a nice sock yarn.

Comments about "" Ty-Dy Socks Dots:

I have purchased 2 skeins of this in different colors, and have been very pleased. It is wonderfully soft (for those who fear scratchy wool) and knits beautifully. This is a great bargain a this price!

works for lace patterns, too

By

from Enfield, Conn

Comments about "" Ty-Dy Socks Dots:

I used this for a center panel lace insertion from Wendy Smith's Toe Up book and the pattern on the instep looks lovely. The dots do not detract from the patterning at all. I've washed them several times (front loader) on a regular cycle (warm water) and they come out perfect. If anything, they are even softer after washing and no pilling.

Comments about "" Ty-Dy Socks Dots:

Working with this yarn was a pleasure. It's soft while knitting & works up into very comfortable lightweight & warm socks on size 2 needles. I was a little concerned about the "dots" but the pattern I used was not adversley affected by them. Yardage is generous so I increased the leg length & still had yarn leftover.

Wore the socks to work where I walk around a lot & it appears that they will be strong & long lasting. Time will tell.

Machine washed nicely with airdry.

Only real con was the single knot in the ball. Have already purchased two other colors.

Oh, so soft!

By

from Durham, NC

Pros

  • Makes A Nice Sock Fabric
  • soft and light

Cons

  • Tends to split
  • The "dots" Aren't Random

Best Uses

  • Baby garments
  • Socks

Comments about "" Ty-Dy Socks Dots:

I knitted socks with a lace/cable pattern. The final product is wonderfully soft, but the yarn is a little difficult to work with because it splits, and one must make sure that all the plys are on the needle.
The "dots" that are supposed to form are not evenly distributed, and bunch up and create different patterns when knitting the heel and the gusset. The final result is pleasing enough, but the best thing about this yarn is its unbelievable softness. I think it would work well for a baby jacket, but not suitable for lace, it would turn out too "fussy".
