Knitting a Cowl with Silk Hankies - ()

Knitting a Cowl with Silk Hankies

$50.00

These luscious squares of silk aren't for blowing your nose--and not just for spinning or felting! Matawa silk squares, aka silk hankies, are made from opened silk cocoons that have been stretched on a square frame. Make of many fine layers, silk hankies can be separated, pulled into yarn, and knit -- with no need for spinning! The resulting fabric is light, shiny, and has a lovely drape. In this class, we'll dive into knitting hankies, starting with a bit about silk and its properties, to pulling hankies into yarn, and getting started knitting a cowl.
