Comments about Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock:

I love using this yarn for super-complicated and fussy twisted stich socks, although it could be could for tons of other uses. It wears really well; I've been running mine through the mill, and no pilling, wearing, or stretching. It also shows cables and textures beautifully and I can throw my socks in the wash. Pretty perfect.

It's not as soft or cushy as some other sock yarns out there, which make it better for the fussy socks, but might be a drawback if what you're going for is the coziest feet on the block. It's also a little less elastic than other yarns, so I use wooden needles rather than metal ones because I need the flex they give me.

Comments about Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock:

I used this yarn to weave scarves. The sock yarn had a lot of springy-ness, which was great in the final fabric, but can be challenging to weave. It was dyed beautifully. I did find it frustrating that the pictures on the website don't clearly show the dye pattern for all colorways. It was a gamble, and it worked for me, but I think that if the dye patterns were visible I would buy more of this yarn for more weaving projects. The yarn was very soft, and I am glad the scarves are easy to care for, and have a great texture/hand.

            Service and delivery comments:

Excellent customer service-I was able to speak with someone who answered all my questions. I also greatly appreciate that it doesn't take more than one step to speak to a real person, and I never had to be transferred for someone to answer my questions. The product arrived in good condition. It was late on account of the USPS, but nothing on WEBS end.

Comments about Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sock:

I've been knitting socks for some time, and am continually in search of the "perfect" sock pattern to put with the "perfect" yarn. This line of sock yarn is a pleasure to knit, but it took me at least 6 pairs of socks to figure out how to show off its colorways without encountering pooling and stacking of colors. Of course, my difficulties were mostly due to the learning curve of knitting with "handpaints" in general, and not really the fault of the dyer, but some of Lorna's Laces colorways are lovely, even when they do pool. I'm so glad that an earlier reviewer wrote about "Zombie Barbecue," because this is one I never would have tried on the basis of how the skein looked. Knit up, however, it is just wonderful! Absolutely stunning. "Watercolor" is also easy to work with, but apparently is a discontinued colorway. I give this yarn only 4 stars, not based on the quality of the yarn (which is 5+ stars) but because you just can't use it without considerable forethought and planning of your project - not for a beginner, for sure.
