Loro Piana® 2/24 Alpaca Wool is lusciously soft due to the high alpaca content. This alpaca & wool blend yarn will weave up into cozy, supple cloth. There are some rich heathers and great marl combinations.

Note: Prices are based on cone weights, which vary by color. However, cone weights still vary and we may need to send multiple cones to fill your order to the weights described. No windoffs.

Comments about true 2/24 Alpaca Wool:

Mix with another lace wt. and get subtle color shifts. Nice for shawls and wraps. I use size 1 and 1/2 lace needles and garter stitch.

Comments about true 2/24 Alpaca Wool:

I bought three cones of this in early 2016 and did some sampling that showed me that some of the cones/colors were strong enough for warp and one was not. In one color, I was sent two cones instead of one large one, and one of the two has a lot more breakage than the other, so I have been using it only as weft and it is fine. The other color "Off-shade" (Army green) is very strong. I used it on a 27" wide warp sett at 30 epi and had no trouble with it. Webs Alpaca-silk yarn is wonderful as weft and soften it though I don't find it to be scratchy as some reviewers, and will try the thread doubled in a subsequent project. I thought all of this yarn was gone forever so bought more at the end of 2016.

I had wanted to use this fiber for clothing but will not be adding it to my "go to" supply.

I was really pleased with this yarn when it arrived. I was a little worried after reading the first review, but this brand has not disappointed me in the past. It is soft and warm to the touch. No damage to the yarn whatsoever.

Fantastic yarn at a great price!

Comments about true 2/24 Alpaca Wool:

I was a little hesitant to order this yarn after reading the first review, but after talking to the people at Webs, I ordered 3 cones (9 lbs) of the Greggio. Wow! It's fantastic stuff. I got five cones making up a total of over 9 pounds. I've been winding a warp from four of those cones, a total of 14,000 yards so far - not a single break. It's plenty strong enough for warp, too.

Bottom line: excellent yarn for a very good price. I've already ordered as much as I think I can possibly use, so I'll let y'all fight it out over the rest. :-)

Comments about true 2/24 Alpaca Wool:

I bought several cones of this to knit multiple stranded in three different colors. Greggio, Wallsaetta and Canvas.
The first two yarns (marled colors) are horrendous. The cones arrived with many breaks throughout and I was left with short snippets of yarn. It was as if a moth had eaten through the cone. After multiple attempts to wind off the short yardages, I finally had to ask for a replacement because the entire 3.5lb cone was unusable. I promptly got a replacement...which also had a similar problem of broken strands. I don't why this particular color was so bad (Greggio)

Now, let's get to the knit fabric. I made multiple swatches and the two marl colors biased heavily in stockinette. (I knew this was going to happen because the yarn was severely overtwisted) BUT...the canvas color (a solid navy) was softer, didn't bias and had no broken strands. Of course, this was also the color WEBS sent me 1.5lb less of than I ordered. Great...

Conclusion: weigh and inspect your cones when you receive them and stick to the solid colors, and skip the marls. Oh, and I have MANY Loro Piana cones and these are rather subpar. No wonder these were so cheap..
