I use Loute Gems super wash wool to knit socks, I love the colors offered. I use size 0 Addi turbo circulars and knit 2 socks at the same time. A womans sock (size 7 shoe) uses 1.5 skeins of yarn , a mans sock(size 10 shoe) uses 2 skeins. This yarn size with a size 0 needle produces a sock that can be worn inside your shoes without making the shoe too tight. My 2 boys are Eagle Scouts and wear these on winter camping trips, they say that my hand knit wool socks are warmer than the ones bought at the camping and sporting goods store. I wash the socks in cold water in my front load machine and I air dry them. I also sent some of this wool to my sister in-law who lives in Russia- north of Moscow- and she loves it for socks. I think the price is fair, my local knitting store only carries fingering superwash that is $15 a skein and that is too pricey for me to use 2 skeins in each pair of socks.Webs Shipped put my order quickly at a reasonable rate.

Out of the three skeins I've wound, two had major yarn flaws and/or knots requiring me to cut the yarn. For me, that is a deal breaker: I will never buy this yarn again. Furthermore, it is not soft, as advertised. The colors are good, stitch definition is good, it's dyed evenly, and it's machine washable. All those things should make it a desirable sock yarn, but having to piece more than expected is a very bad deal in my book.

Made a scarf for my daughters friend from pattern Rosehip. I told her maybe I'd have it done ny Christmas, but the pattern was so much fun and the yarn so nice to knit I finished in 2 weeks! Bought some in red for my daughter, can't wait to knit that.

          Comments about true Gems Fingering:

This is a very tight twisted fingering yarn, has a strong elasticity, and knits kind of "thick" thus bulky fabric. I think it will need a very aggressive blocking to "open" up the knit, but anticipate it will bounce back somewhat. I am using this yarn in place of a DK yarn for a simple lace stitch shawl, it will be a beautiful end product.

            Comments about true Gems Fingering:

The gauge for this yarn is variable. It is rated as fingering but I am doing reasonably well on 6. It is less than sport weight but more than Madeline Tosh fingering weight. I am enjoying the yarn very much but it has some flaws that a better knitter might find troublesome. There are some breaks in the skeins that are inadequately felted together. I choose to accept the breaks and make new balls when I find the flaw. Occationally there will be frayed or felted lumps and the yarn has lint attachments on a regular basis. I like the colors. I am a redhead and primary colors are too harsh and baby colors are not interesting to me. The colors are not vibrant but they are servicable for a color choice needing a yellow undertone or fall emphasis.

I made a baby blanket / shawl with this yarn. The yarn is soft and lovely! Just Gorgeous! The weight is perfect. I wove a blanket / shawl roughly 54 x 54 which made a nice size baby blanket and when folded in a triangle it is a perfect shawl. It worked really well as both warp and weft. I also wove it double cloth and it performed wonderfully! No sticking or felting as I wove! I would recommend this yarn!

This yarn is perfect for knitted shawls. It has a nice "hand" and holds up extremely well to intense wet-blocking. Detailed stitches really POP when I knit with Gems Fingering.

                    Service and delivery comments:

I was impressed with the quick and careful service. I ordered a colour and an amount that could not be filled with one dye lot. The supplier made sure that was acceptable to me before sending the order.
