Malabrigo Arroyo is a super soft, superwash merino wool in Malabrigo's gorgeous colors. The versatile sport weight is a great choice for finer gauge projects with beautiful stitch definition — perfect for garments, accessories, and more! Malabrigo Arroyo is produced in dye lots of 5. Any order for more than 5 skeins will be of mixed dye lots. Some colors do not contain any dye lots.

Hand-dyed yarns have subtle variations in colors that are natural and may vary from skein to skein.  There may be differences between pictures shown and the yarn you receive. To ensure the best results for your project:

  • Buy enough yarn for your entire project at one time.
  • When using hand-dyed yarn in your project work two rows from one skein and two rows from another skein to give an overall blended effect.

If you have any concerns about your hand-dyed yarn, please contact Customer Service for assistance in returning or exchanging your yarn.

I purchased 2 skeins and didn't use them until November as I was really unsure what to do with a sportweight yarn (I've been working with fingering weight for most of the year). However, as soon as I cast on a hat, it was immediately clear that Arroyo is unique and wonderful. A month later I purchased 6 more skeins!

It has amazing stitch definition and a lot of that has to do with what a full and plump sport weight it is. I can think of no other yarn in dk or sport weights that has such bounce and maintains it after washing and blocking. It's also wonderful for winter items for when a worsted hat or cowl can become too warm. It's fantastic as a 3-season weight or for those working or coming and going indoors and outdoors who don't want to remove clothing each time.

The item I kept which I made is a simple hat in the English Rose colorway and I receive questions and compliments each time I wear it. Everyone so far has assumed it has silk or chenille fibers in it since it does have a slight and beautiful sheen.

The only downside is a couple of colorways I had wanted have been out of stock everywhere for several months. Malabrigo has an absolute winner here!

This is not the arroyo I know and love! Very splitty and thin, hopelessly difficult knit, but the worst problem is that it crocked (or bled) all over my hands. After knitting only five rounds, my fingers are stained black; this color did not come off after soaking in the tub and scrubbing it. As I planned to use it in a multicolor scarf, it's unusable because it would bleed onto the other colors and onto my neck and onto my clothes. I'll return the one skein that hasn't been wound. I guess I'll have to eat the other one, but I sure am unhappy! I do not expect products of this quality to be marketed by your company. And shame on malabrigo!

Comments about MALABRIGO Arroyo:

I knit a hat with a straight wool for my follicularly challenged dad and he couldn't even keep it on for a few minutes. The Arroyo in Chircas (which is pretty close to being camo) was like heaven for his sensitive noggin! Soft and very comfortable. It was a breeze to knit with and there was plenty of yarn in the skein to finish his hat. This is an excellent yarn for anything that touches the skin!

Love Malabrigo!

Comments about MALABRIGO Arroyo:

I had a cold and didn't want to go out of the house and over to my LYS, so I ordered two different colorways of Arroyo from WEBS. Delivery was fast, but one of the colorways was not what I ordered. Two of the numbers in the colorway number were reversed. But I think I actually like the substitute yarn even more than the one I ordered, so I didn't say anything or return it and am very happy. I had ordered two different colorways because I wasn't sure which one I wanted to use for my scarf project -- and I chose the substitute colorway! You can't go wrong with anything Malabrigo!

This beautiful yarn is incredibly soft. Since it is also machine washable, I knit sweaters and hats for my grandchildren with it.

Beautiful yarn, but not the color I expected

Comments about MALABRIGO Arroyo:

I bought this yarn in #064 Chispas to crochet a cardigan for a family member as a Christmas present. What I received is much darker than the swatch posted online. The colors are still beautiful, but are red/black, not pink/gray. I will be saving this and making something else with it.

Comments about MALABRIGO Arroyo:

I bought the Arco Iris color, which shows up online as mostly blues and greens. In reality it is mostly a wine red/aubergine blend with bit of teal here and there. It knits beautifully and super easy to work with. I wish they would show more views of the yarn, and with these hand dyed especially, show us a swatch of it knitted up in stockinette.
