I love yarn that is either softly varigated, or it multi-colored, mindfully variaged. Have you ever bought a ball of yarn because the colors look good wound, and then you make the sock and are like, "ewww?" I know. This yarn looks good both wound, and all knit up! I love it! I made a hat with a cable four pattern. I'm not talking big cabled braids or anything you might be making to put on a fisherman, just something you might be making to put on a friend who, in my case, happens to be a postal worker. Being a friend, she says she loves the hat already without ever having seen it, but you know what? She is going to love its pretty color, its soft texture, the slight varigation that doesn't overpower the cable pattern, the light color, on the contrary, letting my little cable pattern, 'pop,' as they say. I would buy it again!

It knit up beautifully. I knit a complex cable tunic; this had great stich definition. The soft tones in the colorway are exquisite and blend well.
I have now worn it for three months - maybe weekly.
Hand washed and reblocked very carefully (been knitting for 60 years.)It pills so badly it is now unwearable; the fuzz is covering the cables. I have used other alpaca blends, never had this great a problem.

Comments about "" Tonos Worsted:

I am entirely rethinking my planned use of this yarn. At the moment, it is in line to be overdyed with another color in hopes that will make it more interesting. If the first skein doesn't take well, the second will go into the pile to be used in felting projects where it will mostly disappear.

      Comments about "" Tonos Worsted:

My first time using a tonal worsted yarn. The yarn is nice and soft, but the tonal color requires a careful consideration for type of knitting. I plan to use this for a plain and simple knit to allow the tonal color to play itself, a rectangular stole in K and P stitches would be nice and easy. I look forward to wear this cozy and warm stole this winter, over coat or alone on the shoulder.

        Comments about "" Tonos Worsted:

I used this yarn to make a large cable-sampler blanket - and I've bought more to do it again. The first one is so soft and cuddly, and I had fun making it, so it is off to friends in Germany and I'll make this next one for me. This yarn is wonderfully soft and has a bit of that merino stretch, making it extra squashy.

I used this to make stranded mittens and the tonal coloring looked great. The alpaca content makes them very warm, too.

I made an infinity cowl with this. The soft tone on tone color emphasizes textural stitches nicely. The only drawback to this yarn is how much the finish project stretches when its worn. It's very drapey.
