Beach socks!

By Captain Hook

from Olympia, WA

Comments about "" Strandgut:

Opal's beach themed color line also makes delicious scarves and mittens. Nothing like it for a rectangular lace wrap that allows the color repeats to recur on a regular basis, though I don't recommend it for anything with large decreases or increases (you want the striping to recur in a more regular format, since it was designed for socks/smaller garments). However if you work carefully with the repeating striping, you can create some amazing smaller garments for babies, pets, or yourself, or work the front panels of a vest while making the back in a single color, etc.

This is simply an utterly lovely yarn that works up beautifully, wears like iron, and has all the fabulous qualities of German materials- and color-engineering. We have pairs of Opal socks that are five years old and still hold their exquisite colors after being worn and laundered 30-45 times a year! And we're pretty hard on socks here in the outdoor-active, soggy, and summer-droughty PNW.

    Comments about "" Strandgut:

I love this yarn. So much so that I bought other types and colors. It knits up to a perfect gauge on my 2.5mm needles. The self patterning effect is so nice and makes me look as if I'm quite clever when the yarn has done all the work.
As always Webs is prompt and efficient. What wonderful people all of you are.
