Plymouth Jelli Beenz is a bright and fun acrylic/wool blend with fantastic colors, perfect for kids' knits. This 3-ply, worsted weight is part of the Encore family, and has two strands of a solid color wrapped up in one variegated ply. Jelli Beenz would be a great, versatile yarn for any worsted weight knit or crochet project: think lively sweaters and accessories for cool weather. Made in Turkey.

Note: Plymouth is now making Jelli Beenz in a bigger, 100g skein. We no longer offer the 50g skein.

This yarn is fun to play with. It has a lovely hand for a 75% acrylic and comes in a wide array of lovely color ways.
It is unevenly plied though, making the yarn range from a aran weight to an almost fingering weight. This may pose a problem with some projects. I love it for baby items, as it is fun to knit with, and washes easily with only minor pilling.

I bought the 2217 Black to make an afghan for a shut-in. The colours are bright and cheerful but the quality of the yarn is horrible. I cast on and knit one row. The pilling was the worst I've ever dealt with. My suspect is the blend along with the loose spin. I can't imagine what would happen to the finished product, if I ever managed to get that far, in the washing machine.

Beware of the yarn! You may experience an attack of the pills!!

Second purchase of this yarn

Comments about true Jelli Beenz:

I knit a baby blanket from this yarn and liked the result so much that I bought more for myself. I'm going to knit a shawl for myself. I bought the Chambray (light blue with some white and darker blue stands). It washed very nicely in my washing machine and I dried it in the dryer (the baby blanket) before mailing to the mother and new baby boy.

This has been my yarn of choice for knitting children's hats for over 10 years. Besides being colorful, the yarn knits up easily and looks great every time.

Pretty yarn, but seems thin to me

      Comments about true Jelli Beenz:

I ordered this in Chambray to knit a baby blanket for a baby boy. The yarn varies in thickness, get quite thin in spots, is so squishy I just don't think it should be called worsted weight. I have to knit it on smaller needles to get a good texture.

          Comments about true Jelli Beenz:

I am very new to Loom Knitting when I found a pattern for a Baby Cocoon and hat. I needed a yarn that was easy to work with and perfect for children. As I scoured through photos of yarn and user comments, I came across Jelli Beenz. Its bright and happy, just what you want for a new baby or child. This was for a very newborn member of our family and this was perfect. It also washes well which I needed for the new mommy-to-be. My project was a little challenging for me but came out great.

            Jelli Beenz yarn running short

            Comments about true Jelli Beenz:

I've been using this yarn for a number of years to make baby blankets and since Plymouth started selling Jelli Beenz in a larger skein, there's no consistency to how much yarn I'll actually receive. My knitting is pretty consistent and lately I've been running short. This last batch was so short (7 rows of 100 stitches each) that I have to order more yarn.
