Color Advisory Update

Revise the original comment. No blue. Charcoal/dark taupe. But the yarn was easy and fun to knit and I'm glad I bought it.

The whole point for me of using 72/25 German/Italian sock yarns is that the texture of the yarn--a springy smooth uniform 3D spiral flowing fluidly out of the ball/yarn cake--works with my lace hook to yield crocheted sock fabric with a particular dimensionality. I can control tension and tiny movements of the hook to achieve different dimensionalities--softer, looser, snugger, thicker. I can even vary dimensionality in the same stitch (comprised of several loops) to get lovely textures in the fabric.

Fingering yarn frogged out from stockinette stitch? Far from "avoiding frustrating tangles," this was more like trying to crochet a sock out of the world's longest and springiest ramen noodle. I'm not sure what Regia was thinking on this one. Novelty market I guess. Maybe knitters will have a very different experience.

Nice visual effect

Pros

  • Interesting color gradation
  • No pooling problems

Cons

  • A bit scratchy
  • No yardage listed

Best Uses

  • Socks

Comments about Yarn > Knitting Yarn Creativ:

I got two of these so I could make a matching pair of socks, and the effect is turning out really well. The white seems impervious to pooling (at least for the dimensions of a sock) and the color transition from grey to blue is really interesting.

My only complaints are that the yarn isn't quite as soft as I expected and (for reasons known best to Regia) they didn't list the yardage(?!).

Pros

  • Curly Yarn

  • Reasonable Price
  • Soft
  • Textured Knitted Fabric
  • Unique Experience

Cons

  • Correct Tension Difficult
  • Tricky To Use At First

Best Uses

Comments about Yarn > Knitting Yarn Creativ:

I was intrigued to try the process of knitting by unravelling a flat to knit a pair of socks. It was quite tricky at first to adjust the tension to the curliness of the yarn. About halfway through the first sock I felt comfortable enough to continue without difficulty. People are interested in what I am doing. I am pleased with the socks and the texture of the socks. I wish the flats came in brighter colors.

Color Advisory

By

from Richmond, CA

Comments about Yarn > Knitting Yarn Creativ:

My first purchase from WEBS. I just started the ribbing so I can't comment other than to say it arrived quickly. The one thing I do know, this color is a long way from what I was expecting. I'm using it anyway -- it's here -- why should USPS be the only one to profit, but medium blue/medium brown turned out to be charcoal/maybe navy blue if you wear tinted sunglasses and dark coffee. Be advised.

Comments about Yarn > Knitting Yarn Creativ:

I have seen these scarves before and always wanted to try them. I'm real curious to see how these knit into socks or fingerless mitts. The yarn feels real soft.

    Kinky But Nice Socks

    Pros

    • Kinks Easily Remedied
    • No knots
    • Soft
    • Subtle color changes

    Cons

    • Kinky Without Wetting

    Best Uses

Comments about Yarn > Knitting Yarn Creativ:

I knitted a pair of socks after unraveling the scarf but found the yarn kinks annoying. So the next scarf I unraveled onto a skein winder, made a skein, soaked it, dried it on the shower head with a frying pan rigged up for weight, and wound it into a ball after drying. I really like knitting it washed and stretched better. Nice socks.

      Service and delivery comments:
