I used this yarn for a stranded hat with a pom-pom. It turned out beautifully. The thick thin nature of the yarn makes the stitches rustic looking (good in this case, my son likes it). The thick thin nature of the one-ply yarn also made it weak in spots. I think it will be okay as a garment, but when I was knitting it did break a couple of times. I would be concerned using it for a sweater (elbow wear) and would never use it for socks or something that needed more oomph. I would choose a yarn that had more plies. The tweed look is beautiful.

I'm three iterations into a repeating Fair Isle pattern and really wish I hadn't been lured by the siren song of cheap yarn. The variations in thickness of this yarn are simply too much - terrible quality control. I haven't yet had it break during knitting as some others have but the thickness variation is so great that some stitches "disappear" into the piece as the yarn is so thin. The variations are also causing unseemly puckering of the piece in places. Argh! Life is too short for bad yarn but I'm already into the piece so will finish. I should have listened to reviews! (color IS beautiful though)

Seems to be a firm twisted yarn should hold up for any use from gloves to scarves, everything. Am knitting a shawl with it. The colors shown on the web site are very accurate to match the color of the actual yarn.

                    Comments about "" Fine Tweed:

I was really looking forward to using this product for a pair of fair isle mittens I was designing. I love the color selection which is very heathery. I really like the other weights (Rowan Fine Tweed DK and Aran) but when I received this I was surprised to see how thick and thin the yarn was. And when I say thin it was like lace weight or even sewing thread. I don't think it made for very even fair isle and I really didn't enjoy knitting with it that much.

                      Comments about "" Fine Tweed:

I bought this to make fingerless mitts, and it works perfectly for that purpose. It is my first time using a tweed, and it is a little rough, but that's possibly all wool tweeds. The major issue I have with it is the alternating thickness and thinness of the yarn. Some place it is so thin the stitch practically disappears, and while it hasn't broken yet in extremely thin places, I'm expecting it to.

The colors are simply great. Lots of texture with the tiny colored bits throughout. Looks like it will bloom a bit after a good soak, too.

My reservations are these: the thick and thin nature of a fingering weight makes it a little scary when you encounter an extra thin place. I worried that a stitch like that might fail. So far, no disasters.

The yarn is fairly scratchy, unlike the DK weight of this yearn, but I hope it will soften with its final soak and blocking
