Comments about 5.79 Enya:

I am using this yarn for beautiful pattern, Quick Sand, from Ravelry. The pattern calls for linen tape yarn, and I was trying to substitute a cheaper yarn to see if I liked the pattern, before springing for the expensive stuff. Enya is a cotton/ramie tape that was on sale and that knits at the gauge specified in the pattern, more or less.

It feels yucky in the hand and on the needle, stiff and unpleasant to touch, regardless of the material of the needle. Plastic seems to work best for me with this yarn. The color I selected, "amethyst," is a lifeless degraded pink, so dead and ugly that it makes me sad. I have ordered some brighter colors because the original amount of yarn that I ordered is turning out to be insufficient. I am planning bright stripes for the bottom of the body and sleeves, hoping to drag the ugly pink yarn into some sort of joyous life.

I made a swatch, which was at the gauge called for, and after washing and drying, it got short and wide, so I am keeping this in mind as I move toward completion of this project.
