Not at all as pictured!

By pink hammer

from Michigan

I'm very frustrated with this yarn! Online (on 3 different computers) this yarn was such a vibrant, beautiful blue. When it arrived today it is dark and dingy and dull! It's very soft and looks like it would knit up nicely, but it's so dramatically different than what I wanted (even in the brightest light I can find) that I will probably not use it. I certainly wouldn't have ordered it if I had seen the color in person. (And because it's a sale item it's not returnable... What a waste of money!)

Pros

  • Beautiful Color
  • Good stitch definition
  • Soft

Cons

  • Not True Bulky Weight

Best Uses

  • Fall Clothing
  • Lightweight Mittens
  • Slippers

I really love this yarn! However, the listing of this as bulky weight is deceiving. I compared this yarn with a few other bulky weight yarns that I have in my yarn stash, and this looks and feels considerably less bulky. It is more like an heavy worsted/aran weight, much closer to worsted than bulky. I went up two needle sizes from what was recommended to try match my pattern's gauge, and it still didn't come out right. If I use needles any bigger, my project will start looking lacy! Given the simplicity of the slippers I am working on, I may try to just wing increasing the number of stitches, but that, of course, wouldn't necessarily work for a more complicated project.
