I use this yarn to knit baby garments for resale. It's wonderful to work with and has great stitch definition and such a lovely glow from the silk. I was worried it was too stiff and thick for baby wear, but once it was washed it bloomed beautifully. It became incredibly soft and developed Just the slightest "halo", but still had the wonderful sheen from the silk.

My only problem has been is the twist is not very tight and snagging can be an issue with the wrong needles. I had the best luck so far with bamboo. Metal was just too sharp. I'm sure other wooden needles would also be a good choice.

Made a sweater in a colour that was unusual and I loved. The sweater was pilling while I was knitting it. I. Had to rip out a section and it showed even after serious blocking. It was impossible to hide the ends without hiding in the seams which was difficult when knitting very long sections. I finished the sweater but it is unlikely I will be able to wear it more then a couple of times without it looking like a dishrag. Pretty disappointing for a [$] investment!

Cons

  • Pills, knots in every ball

Best Uses

  • Shawls

Comments about true Baby Cashmere Merino Silk DK:

I am knitting a shawl for my sister for her birthday. When I first started the shawl, I loved this yarn...so soft, great stitch definition, great color. About halfway through the shawl, I noticed the bottom half of the shawl was starting to fuzz and pill, not excessively, but very noticeable. Since I had spent so much time on the shawl already, I decided to keep going, thinking I will have to de-fuzz it when done. (Which did NOT make me happy! Why should a garment have to be de-pilled before it's even worn? And how will it look when my sister has worn it a couple of times? Very worrisome!) But even worse, EVERY SINGLE BALL had a knot where two ends had been joined together. As if there aren't enough ends to darn on a 400 stitch shawl, every ball added two more! And as there are not that many yards in a ball, that is a LOT of ends to darn! This is one yarn I will not be buying again.

I was looking for a yarn to crochet a baby blanket for my 1st granddaughter!.
This one matched the kind that was used for my daughter, years ago. It is lusciously soft with just the right amount of fluff.
Lightweight for a "binky" to carry around all the time.
I have found my "go to" yarn for delicate, baby blankets.

Currently, I'm knitting a cardigan for a 3 year old boy. The denim-colored yarn gives the cable pattern definition; the yarn is soft and a reliable go-to choice for adult projects as well.

This yarn knits up smoothly and quickly. It has a lucious hand. I'm knitting with Rowan Kidsilk Haze (doubling up) on the Churchmouse Picot-Edge Mohair Throw. Makes a light, warm and beautiful fabric.
