Sweet Georgia's Silk Mist is an oh-so-delicate cobweb lace yarn made from a divinely cozy and light blend of kid mohair and silk. So versatile, Silk Mist can be worked alone into exquisite lace, or doubled/tripled for a more substantial fabric. And you can add a strand of Silk Mist to another yarn to increase the warmth and luster of your project. Just be certain to check gauge! You'll love the glowing semi-solid and variegated hand dyed colorways for every kind of project.

      Tips for cast on

      By

      Comments about 24.00 Silk Mist:

After the 2nd row it's easy to work with, so I recommend to start with another yarn, especially when you plan a special rim. Once you have 4 or 5 rows it's easy to see the pattern and start with this very comfortable yarn.(Look at the pics.)
With my second project (same yarn, different colour)I doubled the yarn; it's easier to knit, but still weightless and cloudy. Really nice for beginning falls and nice chilly evenings.

          Comments about 24.00 Silk Mist:

I plan on making a scarf but hAven't had time yet. I absolutely love the feel of this yarn and it appears to be uniform. I hate as I work with thinner yarns and they practically beak apart as I work with them.

              Comments about 24.00 Silk Mist:

I mostly use kidsilk mohair yarns as a carryalong thread to add texture or color interest to the main yarn. The Sweet Georgias I bought will do that, the colors look great.

So far I've only wound the yarn, not knit it up yet. Even; no knots. Nice. Can't vouch for colorfastness or shedding yet, but seems very similar to other yarns in this category. I actually had a very bad experience with poorly spun Alchemist Haiku- thin fragile areas off and on throughout the skeins - which is why I'm trying other hand dyed brands.

              Comments about 24.00 Silk Mist:

I have knit with a lot of mohair. It is my favorite fiber. Light and warm. However this particular mohair yarn is so hard to work with for some reason.
I bought it because one of the color options was exactly what I needed. Probably would not but again as there are other mohair yarns that are not as pricey.
