Sweet Georgia's Silk Mist is an oh-so-delicate yarn made from a divinely cozy and light blend of kid mohair and silk. So versatile, Silk Mist can be worked alone into exquisite lace, or doubled/tripled for a more substantial fabric. And you can add a strand of Silk Mist to another yarn to increase the warmth and luster of your project. Just be certain to check gauge! You'll love the glowing semi-solid and variegated hand-dyed colorways for every kind of project.

Available online only. Local customers can choose the Store Pickup option when placing their order online.

Hand-dyed yarns have subtle variations in colors that are natural and may vary from skein to skein. There may be differences between pictures shown and the yarn you receive. To ensure the best results for your project:

  • Buy enough yarn for your entire project at one time.
  • When using hand-dyed yarn in your project work two rows from one skein and two rows from another skein to give an overall blended effect.

If you have any concerns about your hand-dyed yarn, please contact Customer Service for assistance in returning or exchanging your yarn.

pretty knockoff

Comments about SWEETGEORGIA Silk Mist:

I used the "Pumpkin" color as a stand-in for Shibui Silk Cloud. The fiber content and yardage suggest this yarn is a knock off, but it's pretty darned close to Shibui, though without that company's color consistency within a skien that does not appear to be deliberately multi-colored. btw the Pumpkin color is very like pumpkin, not at all like the photo—yellower orange rather than redder.

Silk Cloud clone

Comments about SWEETGEORGIA Silk Mist:

I have been knitting hats with a thread of mohair/silk and Koigu. Silk Cloud by Shibui is my mohair of choice—exquisitely soft and the core has a gorgeous gleam. However I needed orange and could not find the color I wanted in Shibui. This is clearly a Shibui Silk Cloud knock-off. I generally despise knock-offs, but took a chance.

It has the same long skein, the same fiber content, the exact same frill of soft kid mohair. When wound off it makes a ball identical to Silk Cloud and it costs the same.

Here's what might be different: the colors, of course; maybe Silk Mist does not quite show the same gleam from the silk, but I could be wrong; and the evenness of the color. Shibui's yarns are perfectly reliable in color and consistency even between dye lots in my experience. Silk Mist shows subtle variation in color within the skein. I personally like that, and the shifts are very slight, but that's about it.

I wish it were cheaper.

I will use it as a secondary to a brioche pattern. The yarn is unbelievably beautiful and soft.

      Tips for cast on

      By

      from Plattsburgh

      Comments about SWEETGEORGIA Silk Mist:

After the 2nd row it's easy to work with, so I recommend to start with another yarn, especially when you plan a special rim. Once you have 4 or 5 rows it's easy to see the pattern and start with this very comfortable yarn.(Look at the pics.)
With my second project (same yarn, different colour)I doubled the yarn; it's easier to knit, but still weightless and cloudy. Really nice for beginning falls and nice chilly evenings.

          Comments about SWEETGEORGIA Silk Mist:

I plan on making a scarf but hAven't had time yet. I absolutely love the feel of this yarn and it appears to be uniform. I hate as I work with thinner yarns and they practically beak apart as I work with them.
