Arranmore from The Fibre Co. is a luxurious, authentic tweed in a blend of fine Merino wool, cashmere and silk. Inspired by the stunning scenery of Ireland's Northern Headlands, Arranmore is spun in an Irish mill that traces its roots to the homespun tweed industry of the 19th century County Donegal. This heavy worsted or aran weight yarn comes in a gorgeous, rich palette of colors that are reminiscent of the wild Irish coastlands.

    Comments about 28.00 Arranmore:

I just completed a scarf for a gentlemen. This yarn is slightly rigid upon examination however after I completed the scarf I washed it in baby detergent and it came out flexible, much softer and is very pretty. This yarn appears to be of the quality that would hold up to many years of wear. The online color sample does not do justice to the rich earthy color of this yarn. I would order this again.

Finally a wonderful tweed yarn comes on the market. Reminds me of the old Tipperary Tweed or Ballybrae but softer. Perfect Aran weight. This yarn will not disappoint you!

            • Delicious, warm sweaters

            Comments about 28.00 Arranmore:

I ordered this yarn for one sweater pattern, and when that ordered arrived, I was so wowed by the look and feel of it in the skein, I immediately went online and placed an order for a second sweater quantity. The yarn is soft and plushy, and felt good to knit. If you find that it feels a bit stiff while knitting, know that is softens into a cushy fabric once blocked.

I bought one sweater lot and, loving the yarn, I then bought 2 more lots. I love the sweater I knitted (Pattern: Burtonport, by The Fibre Company) and am excited to make the other 2.

              Comments about 28.00 Arranmore:

I was so looking forward to making a celtic lap blanket with this yarn as a surprise gift for a friend...and I must say the stitch definition is nice thus far as I am cabling, nice 3D effect, but it feels rough. This may in part be do to I have been crochets for 6 months now with silk, merino wool, even cashmere blends...but still I am disappointed in the rough texture. Maybe a tweed is supposed to be like that?! Hopefully once complete a good soaking in a mile fabric softener will loosen the fibers. Any suggestions out there?

I am a brand new knitter (though crochet extensively) and am using this yarn and I love it!! I did not purchase it from Webs, but rather my LYS, and am writing this review for the main purpose of addressing Webs noting the yarn as bulky weight. I don't think so, more like Aran. In the product product description it's described as heavy worsted. I think Webs should change the weight to Worsted or Aran in the thumbnail description of this yarn so that a more informed decision to buy or not buy can be made by the customer. Again, this yarn is super nice, exactly what one would expect from Fibre Company. The price is steep but you get a Top Quality Product.
