I found this yarn while searching for a heavy worsted weight yarn that knits at 4 st/inch for a rather large wrap which called for 1100 yards in the small size. Most of the available yarns would have priced this project out at close to $150 and I wasn't sure I wanted to sink that much into it.

When I figured out that I could knit my project in this yarn for an investment of only about $36, I ordered it, sight unseen. I could only hope that the color would be pleasing and the texture would be fairly soft.

It turns out that I do really like this yarn but have three cautions. The first is that there are some sneaky breaks with ties in it that you may not notice until they are knit in. The second is that the nice flecks of garnetted colored yarns added in tend to fall out because of the third reason, which is that this yarn is so softly spun that it often entirely untwists.

Still, I recommend Montage Tweed as an attractive yarn at a good price if you can get it on sale as I did.

As listed on the ball band - it is handwash only. I tested a swatch in the machine and it does indeed felt.

Per usual, WEBS delivery is as promised. I love this yarn and did not have any of the breakage issues I have been reading about. I was able to stand and wait for the bus and knit at the same time. The yarn is light and easy to carry. I only wish I would have bought more of the color I choose!

      Comments about "" Tweed Montage:

I was excited to receive this yarn as my first order from Webs but was slightly disappointed that it is actually labelled as a bulky yarn on the packaging; the website lists it as worsted. I will definitely still be able to find a use for it and am excited to test it out!

I knitted a cowl for my teenage granddaughter. She loved it! The yarn is easy to work with, but it's a little scratchy around the neck for my taste. I think I should have soaked it with some conditioner before I gave it away. I was pleased with the color and surprised by the turquoise sections as it knitted up, but it turned out very pretty.

This yarn is a beautiful tweed - I am using a solid turquoise Pylmouth worsted-weight with it to make an afgan. I love the variation in color as I knit the afgan.

I had a terrible time casting on with this yarn. It kept breaking on me! I finally got started and it knits beautifully but I'm still afraid it will break on me. I contacted customer service and they responded immediately! I'd say this yarn is not for beginners!
