This yarn is beautiful and glossy, no doubt about it. However, I don't think it is a heavy worsted. I was unable to make gauge with size 8 needles, and barely was able to make gauge with size 9 needles. The resulting weave was a little too loose to my liking, making it susceptible to splitting while knitting and snagging while wearing. I would like to see more heft and twist to this yarn to really make it a heavy worsted yarn.

    Comments about true Colrain:

I'm aking a variation of Sans Serif cardigan for my daughter in law. The dark gray is fuzzier than the other colors I have purchased and knit - not sure why as the content (wool & tencel) are the same. It's still a great, soft fabric, but I'm glad I'm not using any cables or fancy stitches as I think the fuzz would get in the way of stitch definition. I will say that I do love this yarn in general (I have it in 3 other colors as well, and they're all lovely) and have several other projects planned for it.

I bought this to make a Harry Potter- style scarf, and I think this would be great as a single color sweater yarn, but it snags when I made stripes. Good on size 7 needles; 6 is pretty dense.

Bought this to replace a color block pullover that I had made with Colrain and accidentally shrank. I like the way it works up with good stitch definition and a slight sheen. Easy to work with. Knitted fabric has a nice hand.

            Comments about true Colrain:

I am knitting a prayer shawl to be used by our Care Ministry for someone with needs. I know this will feel comfortable around one's shoulders, will not be too heavy and will allow this person to feel the LOVE through this yarn and the end result. The color Olive Gray is soothing, not harsh, and should also provide comfort. I was thinking of the ocean of Maine when I chose the color so it is also providing much solace and great memories for me as I knit.

              Comments about true Colrain:

I find nothing bad about this yarn. 50 merino 50 tencel Colrain is just about, or equal to, the softness of 100% merino. Since I cannot stand working with yarn with a nylon blend, when I get ready to knit socks I look forward to trying this yarn due to its high quality and strength. The first and only item I have knitted with Colrain so far is a scarf and it is a pleasure to work with, and I am very happy that there are many intense, luxurious colors to choose from. I do not hesitate to recommend it.

                  Comments about true Colrain:

This is the first time I've used this yarn and I'm really pleased with the outcome. The yarn has a very soft, smooth hand and is very pleasant to knit. I can absolutely state from experience that this yarn is forgiving. Due to several requests from the recipient and some experimenting on my part, I started this sweater five, (yep, 5) times. The yarn did not complain. It withstood the repetitive abuse and looks wonderful.
