Wonderful!

This is probably the most luscious yarn I have ever used! It stretched quite a bit when blocked, but since I made a lace scarf, that was a bonus.

I was thrilled to find a cashmere at a good price to use for a Lacey shawl. This was my first Webs order and I feared buying online because I like to see the colors in person and feel the yarn. I bought Crimson, expecting a deep red, alas it's rust. After receiving it, I even googled the color Crimson to see what was described. This isn't a true Crimson. Lesson learned. Only gave it 2 stars because of the color.

Good bang for the buck!

Comments about VALLEY YARNS Greylock:

I made several Billow Cowls as gifts with this yarn, and was fairly happy with the results. I bought several colors, so qualified for the 25% discount. A single skein makes a nice, luxurious cowl for $21 - can't really beat the price. As others have noted, some colors are softer/fuzzier than others. Also, I found the colors to be lighter in general than they appear in the pictures on the web, with the exception of the black. The black was a true, saturated, coal black with zero sheen. I would recommend that other knitters NOT try to use this yarn as center-pull ball; it made for GHASTLY knots.

Lovely and soft yarn

Comments about VALLEY YARNS Greylock:

The yarn is lovely and soft. One ball of yarn, Peacock, looks like it did on the website but another , Forest, is rather different to the shade represented. It is quite a vivid green. More fluoro green than a woody forest. However I will still use it because it is so lovely and a joy to work with.

Comments about VALLEY YARNS Greylock:

I haven't used this yarn yet so I"m only giving 4 stars but it is gorgeous, soft and beautifully made. Looking forward to wearing something made from this. I have collected a three colors, now on a hunt for a shawl pattern to stretch my skills on.

Some batches are soft, some not soft

Comments about VALLEY YARNS Greylock:

I bought this yarn in the store in August, in the "Peacock" color and it has been perfect, as soft as I expected for pure cashmere. In October I bought more on line in two different colors and I am sending it back. It is so disappointing. Side by side with my earlier balls, it is obvious that the new balls are not nearly as soft. The new yarn feels cottony. There's no soft fuzziness to it at all. I don't know if it has something to do with the new colors I chose (Buttercup and Aubergine) but they feel like a very different yarn from the "Peacock." Back it goes... My recommendation is mixed because one batch was perfect but the next was definitely not.

A Yarn Source I Trust

By

Comments about VALLEY YARNS Greylock:

Though I live in a large metro area, it's impossible to find high-quality yarns in a variety of colors and threads. So, when I realized I needed two more skeins for a shawl that was in a rust/orange, I turned to this source. I was hesitant at first because I usually can't trust the color shown online, but I took a chance on this rusty orange. It was exactly as shown on screen and blended beautifully into the hairpin lace shawl. Friends assume I planned it that way. The cashmere was amazingly easy to work with, unlike other brands that tangled, knotted, and frayed. Shipment arrived earlier than I expected and was complete. No bad experience with this source of yarn. I'm expecting the same good service on the merino wool I've just ordered.

Not convinced I would

Comments about VALLEY YARNS Greylock:

The yarn is suitably soft and cashmere like. It Is very loosely plyed. The color was not as represented in the picture and there was no description of this color as a guide. I am not sure I would order this yarn again as I cannot trust the pictures for color. That is definitly a guessing game.

Not what I had anticipated re softness

Comments about VALLEY YARNS Greylock:

I had always wanted to knit with pure cashmere so I bought two balls on sale in August. There was nothing wrong with the yarn, and I got a very pretty aubergine color, but I was truthfully surprised it was not softer. I expected dreamy soft, so I am somewhat disappointed. I typically don't work with yarn this fine, so I knitted two strands on size 4 needles. I made a circle scarf which came out well, but just barely had enough. I will go back to cashmere blends or baby alpaca in the future.

I'm using Greylock in the 'When Two Becomes One' cowl pattern. The yarn is beautiful - very soft and easy to work with. Highly recommended.
