Valley Yarns Mount Holyoke is a light worsted weight 100% cashmere yarn with next-to-skin softness that makes it perfect for cowls, shawls, scarves or a luxurious sweater with a drape that is flattering to all. Named after the Mount Holyoke range of the Connecticut River Valley, the colors reflect the earthen hues of the mountains set against rich New England skies. The subtle tweed of this yarn add a richness and depth to the colors that you won't find anywhere else!

The label indicates that this yarn can be hand washed or dry cleaned. We recommend testing your care methods on a swatch before starting your project.

I would call this a workhorse cashmere, in that it is not a delicate fiber. There is some sturdiness to it so it will wear well. I made a hat and a cowl with it and like the feel of it, tho it is not particularly soft when working it. But feels great against the skin in the finished product. Two plies to the yarn means it sometimes splits, esp. when I had to tink it back. Lovely colors tending toward the natural range. If you need a worsted weight cashmere for hats, mitts, scarves or neck warmers, this is the one for you!

Very soft and warm yarn. Not a worsted weight though (more like a sport weight), so was a little disappointed. Gauge mentioned gives a very airy knit. Wanted to knit a hat for which one ball (185 yds) of a worsted yarn should have been enough. Won't work with this yarn.

Comments about VALLEY YARNS Mount Holyoke:

Very soft, and the color is great. Haven't decided what to use it for, though two balls should be enough for an asymmetrical shawl or a really nice cowl or scarf. I am just a little burned out right now on shawls, having completed two recently, so it might be another month before I try anything.

Soft, warm, and delicious!

Comments about VALLEY YARNS Mount Holyoke:

Soft feel, warm, delicious colors! I just finished a beautiful blue cowl in a diagonal leaf pattern using Mount Holyoke cashmere. It is soft and easy to work with. There are some thin sections in the ply, but none that caused any problems. I like the "tweedy" look of this yarn and love the softness and warmth. This one is a gift, but I've already started the next one... maybe for me to keep!

Comments about VALLEY YARNS Mount Holyoke:

I received 4 balls of Mt. Holyoke for a gift I requested. I made a beautiful long cowl and a hat with it because I wanted something warm, soft and snuggly against my neck. It feels great and knit up beautifully. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the yarn is pretty fragile. I'm not sure I would knit a garment with it as arm friction might wear through the piece. With that in mind, accessories are a dream. The price point is irresistible when on sale.
