"cloudy sky" rather smoggy

By desertcastaway

Comments about 27.99 Pocumtuck:

I know color varies from one monitor to another, but the "Cloudy Sky" color is much more taupe in person than I would have expected either from my monitor or from the name. Otherwise the yarn seems gorgeous, haven't used it yet.

      Comments about 27.99 Pocumtuck:

I was given this yarn as a gift, enough for a sweater. My mother, who gave it to me, said she had never gotten to knit with 100% cashmere and she thought one of us should have the experience. An experience it has been. The yarn is so spongy and soft as it passes through my hands that it creates an astonishingly satisfying knitting experience. I am just finishing a sweater and I am very pleased with the appearance of the yarn in the knitting. I think it will be a real pleasure to wear it! I highly recommend it for any project, just, as my mother said, to have the experience.

I used this product to make a cashmere scarf for my sister-in-law. I used #10 US needles, but they were far too large for the yarn.

        Pros

        • a soft yarn which will make a feel good cardigan

        Cons

        • knits up into a heavier weight than expected

        Best Uses

          Comments about 27.99 Pocumtuck:

The yarn is easy to work with as it does not separate and it feels so soft in your hands. It does knit up heavier than I would like for a short sleeve cardigan.

Using this wool for a cable knit sweater and it's making for lovely distinct stitches, but it still has the softness of cashmere. Great selection of colours.

I used this for a simple stockinette stitch pullover knit in the round, and feel into the most blissful, zen trance imaginable. I love the way it feels, love the way it looks. Heaven.

              Comments about 27.99 Pocumtuck:

Very soft, as cashmere is, but this product is a lot more robust than most cashmeres I've knitted with. It's DK, so, for me, it's easier to work with than finger weight, and I don't have to worry about the yarn unraveling part way through my project (as I have with other cashmere yarns).

              Comments about 27.99 Pocumtuck:

This is the most luscious, loveable cashmere yarn I've used including the Jade Sapphire ones (which can be sticky) and Plymouth Cashmere. It has a delightful resilience and bounce, reminiscent of ultra fine merino and the sublime softness of proper cashmere. This 'bounce' is not common in pure cashmere yarns and adds to the ease of tireless knitting.
I've just started my third Aran scarf in Pocumtuck, knitting the Clan together, and this yarn is setting a new standard of desirability.
