Woven Knitting Weekend Workshop 2- Color and New Techniques - V - Fall 2024

In our 2nd session we will add some color and use a technique most knitters have never tried. Working in a contrast color yarn without knitting or purling a single stitch of it. If your head is spinning from that idea – wait until you try it. Creating this Woven RIb is like magic. Let’s all make a swatch together then talk about how to figure out yarn requirements to transform your swatch into a blanket, a scarf, a placemat, a table runner... If time allows, we’ll return to the linen stitch and crank up the volume by doing it in 3 colors.

You will receive the Zoom link 1-2 business days before the virtual class.

Materials Required:

For this stitch please have 2 colors – 1 skein each – of the SAME yarn. Preferably a heavy worsted. I have used Lambs Pride Worsted for this as well as Cascade’s Andean Dream. But any 2 solid colors will work. Also, you will need circular needles in 1 size smaller than the yarn band says up to 3 times larger than the yarn band says. The length of the circular needles should be 12” at minimum but can be as long as you like. You will need a tapestry needle as well.

If time allows, we’ll return to the linen stitch and crank up the volume by doing it in 3 colors.

For this we will need 3 solid colors – 1 skein of each – of the same yarn. In a light worsted or DK weight. Again, needle sizes

from 1 smaller than stated on the label to 3 1arger than stated on the label.
