*This class fulfills the Requirement for WEKP.
Let’s end our weekend together with some serious finger dexterity. This cross woven stich combines a lot of what we learned in the herringbone but adds the fun dimension of knitting with 2 different sized needles. This fun pattern can be scary as you drop stitches to knit and/or slip them out of order without the safety net of using a cable needle. But have no fear, I’ve never lost a stitch yet.
You will receive the Zoom link 1-2 business days before the virtual class.
Prerequisite:
Materials Required:
This requires a light colored solid chunky yarn.
Darker colors will hide the pattern.
You will need to use needles that gives you a loose stockinette stitch (yes you need to swatch before class) and use that size needle to cast on 22 sts and work a K2 P2 rib for 1 inch.
Also have a second needle that is 2 3 4 and maybe even 5 times large. For this sample I did my right side rows with a size 10 needle and my wrong side rows with a size 15 needle.
And if time allows, we will end with a Woven Basket Weave
A light worsted in a multi
color works great here. Do a swatch ahead to find needles that give you a stockinette that you like. Then have needles 1 2 and 3 sizes larger for playing with this stitch. Have a cable needle on the stand by in case you lose your nerve.
When possible, please buy your materials from WEBS.
