Losing a stitch per row??

Comments about Valley Yarns 512 Timber Blanket:

I just started knitting this afghan and noticed I am losing one stitch per row. Since the instructions are to K2To, the SL 2 but with no YO, there is a reduction each row. Is this intended or a mistake? Also, how many rows should be in each square? This is not specified.

Comments about Valley Yarns 512 Timber Blanket:

My nephew is getting married, and I decided I wanted to give him and his bride a hand-knit gift. I had originally thought I'd like to knit a "patchwork sampler" blanket or throw. But the more I thought about it, the less I liked the idea for a wedding gift. I wanted something polished, and beautiful. I searched multiple websites, but every project I found had something I didn't quite like. Too complicated, materials sounded itchy, not pretty enough. Then I found this Timber Blanket. The pattern seemed simple enough for me, but with a couple of new techniques and effects that I hadn't tried before, so I knew I would have enough to interest me without being overwhelmed. The two decreases, slanting in apposite ways, side by side creates such a clean line - well, it looks SO beautiful and impressive, and it has been so simple and pleasant to work on. I will be proud to give this as a gift, and I'm already planning another for yet another nephew who will be planning his wedding next year.
