Araucania Tepa

Araucania Tepa is a single ply bulky yarn hand dyed in brilliant color combinations. The wool-mohair-silk blend yields a fuzzy yarn with a little sheen - Tepa has great stitch definition. Garments and accessories knit in Tepa will be soft and cozy, with sensational multicolor variegation and more drape than you might expect from a bulky yarn. Made in Italy, hand dyed in Chile.

This yarn is available online only.

Love it!

Comments about Araucania Tepa:

I just tried this yarn for the first time and completed a cowl with it. I love the smooth soft silky feel of it and the subtle sheen. The change of colors makes any project fun. I also tried the Lauca but found this Tepa to be more knitter friendly. Just would like to know if there will be more of this yarn coming in the future? I would plan more projects.

Comments about Araucania Tepa:

The yarn is a little sticky to begin with... almost as if all the dye didn't get washed out. As you work with it though the stickiness dissipates.

It is a variegated yarn and does not make a striping pattern as I originally thought. I love the way the colors blend and am pleased with the outcome (so far) of the shirt I'm knitting with this yarn.

        Comments about Araucania Tepa:

I ordered this, expecting a bulky version of Lauca, with even better colors. It is lovely, with bright, saturated colors that are really nice. But the two skeins that I got definitely are not bulky. They are lighter weight than Lauca, I would call it worsted or even light worsted.

        Comments about Araucania Tepa:

I bought some for a cowl and fell so in love with it I had to have more. Of the same color, which was sold out and discontinued, of course. I searched and searched all over the internet and couldn't find it anywhere. I finally looked on Webs again and like magic, there it was! Just the right amount of the color I needed.

          Comments about Araucania Tepa:

It was a pleasure to work with this yarn. It was classified as a bulky but it worked-up more like a heavier worsted. The color becomes more interesting as the scarve was being made.

          Comments about Araucania Tepa:

My cables show up beautifully, which is not always the case with multi-colored yarns. Am sure this is because it is single-ply.
Although bulky is not my favorite weight, I would use this yarn again.

              Comments about Araucania Tepa:

I bought it because it was on sale (on AMAZING sale, didn't discover it till it was discontinued dangit!!!) and it sounded like it would felt nicely. It felts quickly and evenly in a front-loading washing machine, and the colors form a magnificent mottled impressionistic fabric. Have ordered more while I can still get it.

              Service and delivery comments:

Service is always fantastic. And there was a note at the bottom of the box with "Great colors!" written on it this time. I laughed out loud, and it made me feel really special. And yes, they were indeed Great Colors! Thank you !
