Juniper Moon Farm Marlowe

Marlowe is a 50/50 merino and silk blend from Juniper Moon Farm. Soft and smooth in glowing combinations of Easter egg pastels and brights, Marlowe is a single ply worsted weight  with the drape and luster of silk. The colors really shine in this yarn, clear and vibrant. Marlowe would make incredible multicolor accessories, like so-soft cowls you'll love to wear next to your skin. Made in Italy.

I was gifted a ball of Marlowe, and despite several WIPs, I had to cast on immediately. I chose a simple slouchy hat that wouldn't fight the variegation in the yarn. The yarn was a joy to work with. It's ridiculously soft, but held up to repeated frogging until I ended up with a pattern I liked. My hat is so warm and snuggly that I cannot wait for winter to really test it out! Oh, and I liked it so much I ordered another ball to make matching mittens.

I crocheted a shawl which turned out lovely. Warm and holds it's shape. The colors are gorgeous and the finished garment is soft and silky. The colors aren't exactly as they appear online but were beautiful anyway.

Comments about Juniper Moon Farm Marlowe:

This is such a lovely yarn I feel guilty saying anything bad about it. The colors are luminous, the texture is silky, the final product glows and is supremely comfortable.
I decided to make a vest with it. It's a beautiful vest, a lacy stitch that didn't need strong definition in the final garment, and I've received many compliments. It was heavenly to make, and feels wonderful to wear. However, after a few wearings I noticed it was fuzzing and pilling, and gradually the shine of the silk is being lost.
The bottom line is that it's a loose single-ply yarn, with delicate silk in the blend, and that delicacy will be reflected in the final product. You want to use it for something that doesn't rub on itself (like a sweater) or on other fabrics (like my vest).
So, I still love the yarn, I've ordered more, and will use it with great pleasure. But this time around, I'll make a cowl or scarf -- or maybe socks, where a certain fuzziness will be pleasant and attractive over time.

I made a pair of socks blending this yarn with a cream alpaca/merino worsted weight for a winter, bulky pleasure for my feet. Came out wonderfully! The yarn is a bit slippery on metal needles with the silk content. I would recommend this yarn for a plethora of projects. Simply love the single ply for the 'cushiness'!
