I made "Lavaliere" out of this yarn. It is the softest, smoothest yarn I have knit with. Glides right off the needles. Have worn my sweater a few times and I don't see evidence of pilling. I think this yarn is good for any project, has good drape. Also - pretty good yardage. I would highly recommend. The only con, I guess, is if you are looking for a quick knit, sport weight won't necessarily give you that.

I bought enough of this for a medium size woman's sweater. There is a huge difference in the colors from one skein to another.

When I got the yarn I noticed a vinegar smell but I thought that would go away. It hasn't, and it smells ferociously bad when wet.

This yarn is coated so it will knit more easily. I wonder what's in the coating the dyes.

It is NOT colorfast. It does not felt.

I knit with this yarn almost every day from this January till a couple weeks ago. The bigger the sweater got the more I was handling and inhaling and the worse I felt after knitting for a while. But it took me a long time to figure out what was causing me to feel so bad.

I know not everyone is allergic or sensitive to the same stuff, but I'd be interested to know if anyone else has felt lethargic, depressed, weary, headachy or had any other side effect after knitting with this yarn for a while.

Sadly, this is one of the most beautiful sweaters I've ever made, but I'm not planning on wearing it or giving it away. :(

      Comments about Madelinetosh Tosh Sport:

I wanted a light weight wool blanket for my new grandson. I chose a difficult lacy pattern and that maybe half the problem. I found that I had to be extra careful not to split the stitches. Just didn't enjoy working with the yarn. My blanket turned out beautiful but I'm not sure it was worthy the aggravation. I'm now making a sweater for my granddaughter using a fingering weight twisted Madelinetosh. That's going better. Would recommend the fingering weight over the sport if at all possible.
Bottom line is that they have the most gorgeous colors. If you fall in love with a color go for it.

          Comments about Madelinetosh Tosh Sport:

Madelinetosh is the best yarn I have ever used. It dispels the old rumor that wool is scratchy. It is lovely soft yarn which works up well and is machine washable too. Garments are warm when you need them to be and cool when you need them to be because they are made of merino wool. What more could you ask. I am a fan for life.
