Juniper Moon Farm Yearling

Juniper Moon Farm Yearling is a lovely blend of cotton and wool. The cotton keeps the yarn light and great for warm weather knitting, while the wool adds warmth and softness. Made in Argentina.

I was not happy with this yarn. I bought it to make the gap tastic cowl for my daughter. I found the wool to be heavy and course. Hard to believe there is any wool in it. Just feels like heavy thick cotton. I don't like the feel of the wool so I won't be making the cowl. Not sure what else I can use it for.

I purchased bashful which I found to be a dull peachy pink.

Comments about Juniper Moon Farm Yearling:

I used this wool to make two sweaters, one for me and one for my sister (Paloma by Thea Colman and Pinecone by Susan Mills). I used the colors Bashful and Rose Red. Bashful was a beautiful peachy pink, true to the online picture, but Rose Red is a much darker color than shown - almost a cranberry or wine color with magenta undertones. This is definitely a yarn without any sheen to it, just a solid color. Although I was happy with the way both projects turned out, there were numerous bits of straw and plant material in several of the skeins I ordered. This could be a positive for some people, contributing to the homespun feel of the yarn, but for me, picking out all those bits was annoying. Yearling is warm without the itch of 100% wool, both sweaters are holding up well, and overall I'm happy with my purchase.

    LOVE THIS YARN

Comments about Juniper Moon Farm Yearling:

This is a bulky yarn that knits up very quickly. I'm using it now for a bulky lace pattern (? lace is not the best use, but I loved the sweater and that's how it was designed). I had some extra so I started making crocheted slippers and this yarn is PERFECT for that - it really holds it's shape well and is very comfortable against the skin). After seeing another reviewer's beautiful cowl, I'm going to try that too!

I love the loftiness of this yarn. It is very soft, cozy and perfect for a fall infinity scarf for my daughter. It knits up quick and shows stitches nicely though it gets a little fuzzy when you work with it. Overall it's not bad for the discounted price.

Comments about Juniper Moon Farm Yearling:

I purchased the "misty morning" colorway to make an infinity scarf for someone. The color is absolutely gorgeous--a lovely silvery grey--and for me it was quite close to what I saw on my screen. The yarn is fairly soft and not very splitty at all. The yarn was surprisingly delicate in that when I tried to do a double-knot yarn join, it snapped right away; working with it normally didn't show any similar problems, but I was also very careful after that. My biggest complaint, however, is that there was a LOT of grassy and thorn-like detritus in it! There was literally a bit of sharp plant material embedded every foot or so in the yarn. This was quite tiresome. I work with cotton yarns easily 90% of the time, and I have never had this much garbage in it before. The pieces were big enough that one can easily pick them out, but it's still a pain. Hopefully it is just this colorway that has this problem! It's a generally good yarn aside from the plant problem.
