KnitPro needles, also sold under the Knitter's Pride name, cover nearly every material and format a knitter could want. Because the two brands share manufacturing, interchangeable tips and cables from KnitPro and Knitter's Pride are fully compatible, so you can mix and expand a set over time rather than starting over.
Picking a Material
KnitPro needles come in several finishes, each with a different feel:
- Basix Beech: warm wood needles with a bit of grip, good for slippery yarns
- Ginger: a smoother wood finish for faster knitters
- Zing: anodized metal in a range of colors, fast and durable
- Dreamz: colored wood with a lighter touch than metal
- Karbonz: carbon fiber tips, often chosen for very fine or very large sizes where strength matters
Circular, Straight, or Interchangeable
Fixed circular needles like the KnitPro Ginger or Basix Beech options suit a single project length, while double points are the standard choice for socks, sleeves, and other small-circumference knitting. If you work on a variety of projects, an interchangeable set lets you swap tips and cables as gauge and project size change, which can be more practical than buying individual fixed circulars for every size.
Sizing and Care
KnitPro needles are labeled in US sizing, so check your pattern's needle size against the US number when choosing a length and diameter. Wood and carbon fiber needles should be kept dry and stored away from extreme heat, while metal Zing needles wipe clean easily between projects.
