Childhood Wishes is a classic cable blanket knitting pattern for Aran or Worsted #4 weight yarn.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR FOUR BLANKET SIZES:
Approximate sizes after blocking…
Small (4 cables): 29.5” wide x 32.5” long
Medium (5 cables): 35” wide x 36” long
Large (6 cables): 40.5” wide x 46.5” long
XL (7 cables): 46.5” wide x 53.5” long
Finished size may vary depending on yarn weight and gauge used.
Any of the blanket sizes may be made longer by adding cable pattern repeats.
WORSTED or ARAN #4 WEIGHT YARN:
Small: 620 - 650 yards
Medium: 820 - 850 yards
Large: 1250 - 1300 yards
XL: 1650 - 1750 yards
GAUGE:
Stockinette stitch with US size 9 needles after blocking: approx. 14 sts & 22 rows = 4”
Exact gauge is not essential.
Choose needle size that gives best appearance for your yarn & knitting tension.
Cable knitting experience highly recommended.
Blocking of finished blanket is highly recommended.
This pattern uses standard U.S. knitting terms.
