Easing into Brioche - IP- Spring/Summer 2026

*This class fulfills the Knitting Elective Requirement for WEKP.

Brioche knitting is known for its plush texture and bold colorwork, but it doesn’t have to be mysterious. In this three-session class, we’ll ease into brioche knitting using two colors, a method that makes the structure easier to see, understand, and fix.

You will learn the fundamentals of brioche knitting, including setup rows; brioche knit and brioche purl stitches; how to read brioche fabric; and how to recognize and correct common mistakes. Through guided practice and initial swatches, we’ll build skills gradually, allowing the technique time to settle between sessions. You’ll then confidently cast on one of two patterns, chosen based on your comfort level and preferences.

This class is ideal for adventurous beginners and intermediate knitters who are comfortable with knit and purl stitches and want a clear, supportive introduction or refresher to two-color brioche.

For the comfort and safety of our students and teachers, students may be asked to wear a mask during in person classes and workshops, and masks are available upon request.

Format: In-Person

Prerequisite: Knitting II, or equivalent.
Materials Required:

Yarn:

2 skeins worsted weight yarn (at least 100g/3.5oz each, choose 2 different colors)

Needles:

US 6 (4mm)

Your knitter's tool kit

crochet hook or stitch fixer

Cancellation Policy: For all classes, payment of full tuition is due at time of registration. Tuition will be refunded only if the class is cancelled by WEBS, or if there is a waiting list and your spot can be filled.
