*This class fulfills the Non-Knitting Elective / Wild Card Elective Requirement for WEKP.
Well, you took Intro to Rigid Heddle Weaving, but have since forgotten how to set up and weave. It has been a while and now you want to get back into this craft and need some guidance on how to set up and thread your loom, how to make clean edges and create an even beat. In this class you will refresh your memory while learning to change colors in both the warp and weft and measure the length of your project as you weave. We explore how to weave a hem that is to be turned and stitched. The warp wound in class gives you enough length for one towel in a main color with contrasting stripes. The yarn used for these towels is Mercerized cotton, but after machine washing and drying a few times, this yarn becomes soft and absorbent. This is a perfect gift for someone special or to keep for yourself. Finished dimensions after hemming, washing and pressing: approximately 17.5” x 36”
For the comfort and safety of our students and teachers, students may be asked to wear a mask during in person classes and workshops, and masks are available upon request.
